Overview of Programs

GRAD focuses on five core programs that implement activities both within and outside the classroom. These activities target the major aspects affecting a student’s motivation and academic performance within a low-income community.


Mathematics

Project GRAD Mathematics is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade instructional and professional development system of learning and teaching that advocates a balanced approach to mathematics instruction where both skills acquisition and conceptual development of mathematics are both emphasized. School Climate

The Project GRAD School Climate Component was designed to assist in implementing research-based best practices in the ten elementary and two middle schools that Project GRAD Knoxville serves. School Climate is best defined as the overall atmosphere of a building. A school’s physical and social climate as well effective classroom management are vital for establishing an environment conducive to learning.  Learn more »

Social Services & Parental Involvement

Campus Family Support is the Social Service Component of the Project GRAD model. CFS provides direct support services to students and their families. This support runs the gamut of social services including parental involvement activities, individual intervention, career counseling, enrichment, group activities, after school activities, information about and referral to community agencies, tutoring, and mentoring. Learn more »

College Access

In partnership with Heart of Knoxville high schools, Project GRAD College Access staff works to assist high school students with the myriad of challenges that many minority and low income students face as they prepare for high school graduation and securing access to post secondary opportunities. The school based College Access staff provides a number of key programs and services designed to remove identifiable barriers to college access and success. Learn more »
